My name is Rachael Rosser and I began The Shepherd's Daughter in 2008. I live in Pakuranga Heights, Auckland(NZ) with my husband Warren and son Samuel.

In 2004 I graduated with a Bachelor of Music with Honours from Otago University and in 2006, graduated with a Masters of Music from Waikato University. In both degrees my area of speciality was composition. In my honours degree I also specialised in ethnomusicology (the musics of different cultures & people groups).

The Shepherd's Daughter has three key areas of focus:
1. Transcribing, composing and arranging for others
2. Composing and releasing my original music
3. Teaching piano, flute and theory and seeing others find joy and grow in their musical ability music

Why The Shepherd’s Daughter?
My first name, Rachael, means ‘naïve: like a lamb’. All my life I have loved sheep. When I was about 3 or 4 years old I had a ram lamb named ‘Mary’ (“Mary had a little lamb...” ...yeah, anyway who knows what I was thinking!).

When it came time to find a business name something to do with sheep seemed an obvious choice. But how does it relate to music? I had to find the connection... another name for Jesus is the Good Shepherd and because we’re all God’s children, I thought The Shepherd’s Daughter was fitting... and the connection to music? - it’s a passion and gift that God has given me and all of you.
